Info
BBC (1 x 60 mins)
This intimate documentary follows the lives of young men aged 15 - 23 based in east and west Belfast as they try and cope with the pressures of fatherhood.
This programme follows the personal stories of these young men at home and on the street as they strive to either become a first time father, a better dad or try to play a significant role in their child’s life. The film also observes a fathers’ scheme that was set up to help young men learn parenting skills. Through this scheme we listen to the issues relative to these young men; issues such as sex education, self-esteem, anger and frustration.
This film will give the viewer a fresh perspective on young men as fathers in working class areas who often carry the stigma of choosing to distance themselves from their parental responsibilities.
