Info
Channel 4 (1 x 60 mins)
This extraordinary documentary won Channel 4 the biggest share for a UK originated programme in 1999.
An exceptionally intimate portrait of the lives of lap dancers when they are not dancing, this film avoided dealing in smut and sensationalism, preferring instead to take a compassionate look at the way the sex industry impacts on relationships.
Six dancers, living together in a shared house with the manager of their club, allowed the cameras to share their most intimate thoughts and fears, while their friendships gradually broke down, with each ultimately going their separate ways.
