In 1976 the Dangerous Wild Animals Act became law in England and Wales. So if you wanted a crocodile or tiger as a domestic pet, you needed a license. However, the Act never reached Northern Ireland until 30 years later.

Filmed over eighteen months, from when the new law was introduced, this film follows the owners, the dealers and the Environment and Heritage Service as they strive to enforce the legislation.

This is the bizarre and intimate insight into what happened when it all went disastrously wrong...
